I am beginning to restore a 1988 944 N/A. The only problem I have is finding the seat material. The interior is camel and the seats are cloth inserts with a fine white pinstripe. The cloth also has a fine "hair" feeling to the touch. If anyone knows where I can find this cloth, please email me.

I think tweeks has it. (not online).
If you don't have a catalog, go to tweeks.com They're definately worth watching, and have very high quality parts, prices are either pretty good, or way out of whack, so keep your eyes open... We'd like your pics of your car, if you can post em! And good luck. Ahmet ------------------ It's all the driver... |

I'll put some pictures on as soon as I can. Warning though, I am going to start taking pictures in the middle of a tear-down and I will keep posting as I restore.

In the restoration process that I am familiar with, an effort is made to preserve the original type components along with all of their original inspection marks, tags and decals etc. This includes making sure the various serial and casting numbers match what the car was originally built with. Thus, a restoration to me, means bringing the car back to its absolutely original condition.
In most cases, when people say they are restoring a car, I have found them to actually mean that they are having some body work done. Along with some interior updates etc. In the muscle car world, this is called a restification. My guess now is that your car is simply going through a bodywork, mechanical and interior process. I admire your effort in preserving your car and do look forward to any photos etc. that you may have of the process. Sorry to sound so anal about restoration JG |

You did not sound anal. This is my first "restoration" attempt on any vehicle and I welcome all the help I can get. The only change from original that I will be making is installing the 10 speaker system instead of the 4 that it came with. Everything is original; i.e., stickers, emblems, etc., but I am having an almost impossible time finding the cloth to reupholster the front seats. I have tried Hirsch and World Upholstery, searched the internet, and even attempted to contact Porsche, with no luck. Any advice would be appreciated.
