Porsche Air Cooled Carrera - Driven

Just wanted to share my experience. My friend's dad who has a 964 (1994 model i think) C2 has finally let him drive the car around. Meaning, I get a rides in it and I get to drive it. So I took it out for about 15 minutes today, its fun like no other to drive. No wonder there's so much "mystique" and hoopla over the car. The sound of the flat 6 behind you as you row through the gears as smooth as butter. Then the amazing stability under braking and the squat under acceleration. The steering has the heavy feel, perfect to feel in tune with the car. The close confines, dash layout, sloping rear window all give a true sports car feeling. Clutch feel was great, very very easy to engage first and throttle response was beautiful.

Anyways, just my rant about the 964. I wonder what its like to drive a 911. Or a 993. I had my chance to drive a 996 a year ago, but I didn't really know the guy that well so I declined. Instead I let him show me 0-60 and other amazing acceleration tests.

How did the acceleration of the 964 and 996 compare

Garage
my folks just bought a 92 silver/ blk interior 964 carrera 2, tiptronic with 17" carrera cup wheels on the weekend. I went for my first ever 911 ride on Saturday night- never had a ride in my stepdads '78 SC track car. Man that engine sounded beautiful and had plenty of pull. hes going to keep it for weekends, use the work ute for big loads only, and use his '84 944 as his 'to and from' work car.
i luv how porsche brings families together
