After you remove the screws there is a pin and slot arrangement on the outboard side. Have to drop the inside end down and slide the whole thing toward the middle of the car.

Make sure you have the battery disconnected.

MrPants,

How is the wiring coming? My last post may have caused a bit of confusion, too much info at once. If you could use a hand, we can work this out one problem at a time.

First, probably not a problem under the fuse box. In my experience problem's don't usually come from under the fuse box.
The exception was early 924's and VW's with the crappy plastic fuse boxes that deteriorated, causing all sorts of problems. My late '85 fuse box seems to be made of good plastic. Unless your fuse box is showing signs of corrosion it's probably OK. It's worth a look, but the underneath of the fuse box is generally out of the way, and not susceptible to wear or tear that causes electrical problems. Corrosion *can* be a problem, but in my own experience 99% of problems don't come from there...

Did all the problems start at once, or have they been popping up over time? This will help figure out what is causing the problem.

And what's with the "MrPants"???

thanks for the help guys. i been so busy lately so its been hard to have any time to work on/drive my car.
the problems slowly appeared.
first no start, then radio, then headlights not popping up/dash lights, and then finally windsheild wipers. the dash lights are coming on now. sometimes if they dont work and i wiggle some wires at the back of the fuse board they come on. hence the questions about removal.
ive basically given up though. its going into the dealer tomorrow (time for a retensioning anyhow) plus ill get to drool over all the new porsches. god i love that place

ok, dealer says its a bad relay board. that would have been the last thing i would have thought of. what is in the board that can 'go bad'? i thought it was just a peice of plastic that held the wires/connectors for the relays to slide into
