Clutch done, now speedo won't work

I can't believe I did it! What a frusterating job. Thanks to all for the support and tips. On the test drive I discovered the speedo won't work. I checked the connection on the drivers side of transmission. What about the engine speed sensors on top of the bell housing? I should mention that it only has one bolt secured. The other is sitting on the top of the engine. I did make sure the thing was good and tight before I started it and drove.

The speed sensor is for the engine electronic injection not the speedometer. If these were out of adjustment or plugged in wrong the car would not run at all.

The unit in the side of the transmission just above the axle on the drivers side is the speed sender for the speedometer. See if it's still plugged in or even if the wires have been broken somewhere in the sheath.

If it's plugged in then the gear on the speedometer could have fractured. The original gears do this often. Have to pull the instrument cluster to get to the gear.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

Hopefully its something near the transmission end. It seems like this is where the problem would be since I removed the trans. Youda man SoCal!
