Post hood crest - how to keep it?

How do you guys keep the symbol from getting stolen. I just got a new one and put it into the holes on the hood but I can pull it right out with my fingers with no effort...what would be the best way to install it and not worry about it getting lifted again.

thanks

Put the locking nuts on the back of the crest. You should have gotten some when you bought the crest. I would take the crest out until you pick some up if not you might lose it riding down the road.

these days i think more jerk offs out there steal honda symbols than Porsche ones....here's what to do. Get a big giant battery, connect the positive and negative grounds to a metal part on the car. The next time someone steals the badge, their ashes will be sitting on top of the hood

Well, you might try putting some heavy duty adhesive underneath it. But then again, if the punk bastards are determined, they may just bend up or scrape up the nose where the crest is mounted...

They will just rip it right off no matter what, with a screwdriver, I am with ESpec all the way here.

I say just leave it the way it is. here's two scenarios

1. you leave attached the way it is now. Someone steals it. You need a new emblem.

2. you super-glue it, and put lock nuts on the back of it. Someone tries to steal it. They can't get it off. They start using a screwdriver, they gouge and dent your header panel. the screwdriver gouges up the emblem. You STILL need a new emblem, but now you can't get the old one off, and when you do, you need body work and paint to fix your gouged header panel, in addition to the new emblem.

I know i certainlty wouldn't want anyone stealing mine, but i would rather have them take it, and not damage any other part of the car doing it.

Just my opinion.

good point mike.

people tried to break into vettes with t-roofs, they would use a screwdriver and pry, and the paint and fiberglass woudl crumble.

Lesson, buy a vette without t-roof

Hope they don't go after the detachable roofs on p-cars...guess they look like sunroofs so they won't attempt.

If it comes off that easy, why not put it in your pocket and take it with you. Perhaps if it is that easy to come out, it may be falling out and not stolen.

Solution 3, move somewhere where people aren't stealing the emblem off a damn car.

I had my emblem stolen from outside my apartment here at school about 4 weeks or so ago. My solution? Don't get a new emblem till I go back home and can park in a secured garage. Sucks, but it works.

OK guys. You NEED to put the lock nuts on there. That is what keeps it on your car in the first place. (I just replaced mine a couple months ago). People can get it off then and steal it..but oh well. Super glue is just dumb. The locking nuts work well to keep it on. If you don't put them on then thats like setting it on the hood and hoping it doesn't fall out. Locking nuts are not to keep it from getting stolen..it's to keep in on the car in general

I just went out and stole one from some black 944 with a geek in it.
Had stickers all over the car and look like he was from another country.

Hey AMC, did you go to MOTORAMA on the weekend. There was a wicked black turbo in the parking lot, all tinted with some 17's. It looked awesome.

That's real nice AMCPorsche924Powerhaus, real nice.

My emblem was yanked off my hood at the swap meet. Go figure... as if you couldn't buy them there for $15 - $20. Bastards. Anyway, I had the lock nuts on and the crest just broke off at the posts. It was only a few months old. I think I am going to find a herpes culture here at work and paint it on the new emblem..that'll teach em.

Another OUTLAW OPPORTUNITY!
This is the time to have a smooth nose. Who needs to advertise the pedigree of the car! Why tempt juvenille delinquents! Why clutter well thought out design with a badge! I love my car and I don't give a hoot if someone gets impressed when they look at a badge and reads "Porsche!" Wow! If the unknowing think it is a Lamborghini or a Lada, I don't care. Those that know will still enjoy it for what it is. Those who don't can fantasize. If you debaged most of the modern cars, most of us wouldn't have a clue as to who made the darn things nor could we care less. However, your machine has an identifiable character, and that character is what can be appreciated! (When it came time to repaint my 79 SC, I was so happy to just smear body filler over that absolutely gosh rear reflector that glares "PORSCHE" and popular 70's 80's commercial crudeness. Now it is gloss black, just like the rest of the car. No badges any where on the body.) No tatoos for me or my ride.

Badges are classy. Body filler on the reflector might be a little extreme; such a shame on a nice 911 SC

But if you remove the front crest, wouldn't people mistake your 944 with a 914? (Just joking)
