Your high side line (liquid line) will always be the line going through the dryer returning from the evap core. The vapor line will be a fatter line that basically takes a path from the compressor to the evap core non-stop.

On the early I am not sure if this rule applies, but on the lates you have to use the suction side of the compressor, meaning that the service port is on the compressor itself. The compressor muts be swung out of the way and a charge line attached, then swung back and belted in for the charge.

I would search the archives sine I seem to remember that the early's had a low side charge port on the fender well.

One more thing, if your doing a retro consider a new condensor from www.griffiths.com, it will allow your new 134A system to operate more efficently, and your engine will cool better.

don't know if this helps:

Thanks it helps alot, I now have bigger fish to fry the focker is over heating and I cant figure it out.

today I replace the thermostat, yippee that was fun, then I went to get a new relay and no one has one, so I am just up the creek until I can figure out the mess I am in.

How do you knw if youre water pump has crapped out? I f its the water pump, any one want a 84 944 na for cheap, the wife wont let me spend the 1300.00 to fix it. Later

If the water pump is shot you will either hear some really bad noises from the belt compartment. or the radiator hoses will be cold.

When you replaced your thermostat did you bleed the system correctly?

I am not sure, I removed the hose from the radiator, and from the top of the engine, then flused it with water , I also put water in the overflow for it to drain out.

The system is bubbling it gets so hot, then the hose on top of the radiator makes some funny noises. I loosened the bolt on top of the block to let pressure out, but all that came out was hot steam.

I am at a loss. the water pump isnt making any funny noises yet but my luck it will tomarrow.
