throttle switch & oil
I removed the throttle switch from under the throttle body and noticed that the switch itself was full of black oil. Is it supposed to have oil in it? Thanks,

I can only relay what I have read in previous posts. I have never taken apart the TPS on a 944. I have read that it is common for the TPS to fill will crud becase of how it is mounted. It doesn't seem like there should be any oil in there.

It's electric, not hydraulic. No oil should be in there. Clean it. adjust it. It should click just as soon as you crack the throttle.

A couple of weeks ago we had an '84 944 with a sticking throttle.
The tech took the throttle body off and found that the throttle shaft was sticking due to the amount of "unidentified crap" in the throttle body bushes. Once cleaned off it was like new. Maybe someone had cleaned the throttle body in your car and this was the residue from the carbon and solvent? Clean everything off, adjust the TPS and make sure the idle is ok.
