http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/kwijl.gif Speedy, it's official... I am drooling over your car!

thamlin000 09-12-2003 11:49 AM

If I blew my engine, I'd consider a V8. This applies to both of my cars.

Ok, now that we've got Speedy's attention; how much does a mod like this cost?
LT1 Engine (used):
951 tranny:
Conversion kit:
Misc:
?????

speedy007 09-12-2003 04:16 PM

renegades kit has a bell housing and chevy clutch, motor to torque tube.
thanks, don

speedy007 09-13-2003 04:44 PM

i bought a wrecker and made all plus, my money back for the complete motor.
i paid about 550 for the 951 transaxle but i remember some smart ass saying he gets them for $25 or something rediculous.
kits a couple grand.
some of these bastards are running MUCH more hp than i, no smog states.
thats where im moving to.

speedy007 09-13-2003 04:59 PM

this is my hobby car and ive poured money into it like as if im nuts.
ex; the first set of wheels i had powdercoated then had chromed, now i have twists.
the first set of tires were dunlops and now i have 17' kumhos.
i did porterfield pads on the na, all 4, then i did porterfield pads on all 4 turbo calipers, with spindles and rebuilt lower arms then i did porterfield pads on the big blacks on the front, and rotors thru all this.
a lsd trans the first time would have been nice, but most are worn out, have you ever checked yours with a torque wrench to check it?
so then i bought the diff and had the trans rebuilt anyways.
the momo compitetion steering wheel was cool but the sparco is slightly bigger for easier turning now that i bought a used manual steering rack that i had rebuilt, i couldnt find a good used 1. the sparco is all suede with the center indicator on top, looks cool.
did i really need the rollbar and 2 sets of 5 pt harnesses?
and the camera mount and the new camcorder with remote lens and mic.
the tint is nice but the original rug in back needs to be replaced.
on the 2nd stereo now, and speakers.
sorry guys i get carried away...

Yea but I would not be as worried about the Vet exploding, as I would be about a Ford product.

Did you know that Ford holds one of the most unknown records in the Automotive industry? They hold the record for most fatalaties due to saftey issues. Now thats a product I want to drive! Safe for the whole family.

speedracing944 09-14-2003 06:59 AM

I visited the Renegade website and saw they have a kit for 914's w/ 300HP and weight of 2300lbs. Now that sounds fun! I will keep my eye out for a 914 w/ blown engine! Yehaw!!!!!

wow! no kidding? where did you find those stats? I'd like to have a look at that. stuff that they don't talk about in the commercials ;)

I got iff a webiste back when Ford was dealing with the exploding tire issue that they tried to palm off on Firestone. I'll poke around again and find it, it's out there. I also remember that in 2001 the held the record for most recalls as well.

Having owned a Ford SHO I can state in all honesty that Ford is one company that should close up shop and quit palming off their crap on unsuspecting consumers. I hardly remember a time when that car was not in the shop.

I also had seen that stat again when recently all of the police crown vic's were catching fire and killing officers. I know in my municipality that had to switch patrol cars after that happened. Here is the link to crown vic stats:

jeez, I guess I'm glad I always preferred Chevys and never had any bad experiences with Fords firsthand. I actually let myself get talked into looking at a Mustang a few years ago, but was immediately put off by the fact that sitting in it felt absolutely no different than my old Pinto (don't ask) that I had a while back. so I figured why would I want a car that feels just like that old pos? since I haven't owned a Ford in so long I never much paid attention to any of the safety issues with them. as for the problem with the tires, how could Ford have been to blame on this and not Firestone?
