I'm looking at relacing my clutch and timing belt this summer. my question is what clutch should i use (ie. brand), and should i use a 3 piece kit or the complete kit like pelican offers. Also is there anything else I should replace while I'm at it? Thanks.

Depending on how much time you have to do the project you can get either the entire kit or just start with the 3 piece. But I ordered the Sachs spring center kit from Pelican and it works great! Although once I was able to get into the bellhousing I discovered that I needed new throwout fork needle bearings If I only had 12hrs to do it in I would have to have the entire kit on hand just in case. But otherwise order what you need. Except you should get the fly seal and the flywheel bolts, just a piece of mind putting the new seal in.

Did you replace the flywheel?

Nope, I had it surfaced at my local Napa for $25 or so. I didin't have any burs or scrapes. But there was heat tracking all over it. If you can do it, do it. It's just piece of mind. For all I knew it might have been uneven and after all that work I didn't want to have any chatter at all.

also has anyone had any experience with the Vertex kit with the Power Friction disc, it's a little cheaper than the sachs, says it uses all sachs components except the disc.

I bought the kit from Vertex and it worked just fine. Pay attention to the order of the rings on the throwout bearing. You will have to assemble that yourself. Other than that, it is the same as a Sachs kit from any other place.
