944s in my area
I was on my way home from Boston on Thursday night, on rt. 84 in Manchester CT just outside Hartford, when my father turns to me and says "Well, look what's coming up on our left..." As soon as I turned my head, a jet-black 944 blasted by at about 110MPH. I couldn't tell which specific model it was, but it was definitely not a 951 or S2. One thing I can tell you, however, is that it sat much lower than a stock 944. Was this any of you guys?
I went to visit my mechanic Dennis at Bristol Motor Works (he's a great guy and very fair mechanic) and he was telling me about a first-time customer that came in the other day with a red 86 944NA. The guy mentioned that he was thinking about autocrossing the car, but Dennis said that would be a sin -- he should be entering it in a councours! The car only had 3,000 miles on it (or something ridiculously low like that), and this oil change was the first time the car's oil filter had been changed! It still had the original factory magic marker writing on the oil filter! The car looked like it had never been driven, it could have just left a show room about 20 minutes before he brought it to the shop...
...well, today I was driving around town and ended up behind a red 944 that had the same license plate as the one Dennis had mentioned. People, believe me when I tell you that this car was GORGEOUS. I have NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER seen a 944 in such good condition. It looked like it was never driven! You can really spot the 944s that have been taken care of... mine is in very impressive condition, but this red car puts mine to shame! The guy was very friendly and waved to me and honked as I turned into a parking lot. If the owner of this car is a visitor of the board, I would really love to get a closer look at your car.
