Summer finally arrived here in the UK, although I think it may over now after a week!
I have spent most of the last two weeks with the roof out, just putting it back on at night. As the car is in a garage I just slot the roof in without turning on the car and securing it properly. Every morning I go out to remove the roof again and the roof has secured itself at some point in the night. I know that it secures automatically if you pull off without securing it, but with everything turned off - how does it do this ? Has anyone else noticed this ? ------------------ NickB '89 951 |

Hi Nick it sounds like your car is posessed..... Well maybe when you close the door, the roor secures itself, try putting the top on and get in the car, and close the door. Oh slide the drivers seat up and get in the back seat when you get in, it might sense that your in it if you sit in the drivers seat......Stan |

If you lock your car (I hope you do this) it secures the sunroof automatically.

Sometimes if i go for a ride with the sunroof off and i come back and put it back on the things in the back are not fully retracted and i have to retract them and then put the sunroof back on

My '87 944 does the same thing. If you just set it in place the mechanism will engage and lock it in a short time(I don't know how or whether its related to door locks since I don't have remote locks). I think its a safety precaution so you don't forget its unlocked, start whipping down the highway, and suddenly find that a 2X3 foot discus is launched wherever gravity and wind wants it to go.

Andre,
It sounds as if your front centre microswitch is faulty. (the one between the sunvisors) i.e. The car thinks your roof is in - so it attempts to lock it down when you set off. ------------------ NickB '89 951 |
