Effects of improper wheel offset on 924S

What do you all think the impact of running wheels with the wrong offset will be on my 87 924S?

I purchased a set of 16x7 flat dish wheels with a 928 offset (65mm). With 205/55-16 tires, they fit. However the tires are close to the springs in the front. I've added 1/4" spacers which gives pretty good clearance.

My simple math says I'm still 6.35mm from having correct center line on the wheels. The track is too narrow.

Wheel offset minus stock offset minus spacer width equals track error. Therefore, 65-52.3-6.35=6.35

The car handles nicely, but feels a little "darty" on uneven pavement.

If I purchase 14mm spacers, I'll be off only 1.3mm.

I'd appreciate your advice.

Thanks in advance.

Lots of guys run spacers, usually to use late offset wheels on early cars, which is simular to what you're doing.

What's the tyre clearance like on full lock under hard load?

Clearance under load and at full lock is fine. No rubbing with the 1/4" spacers, even during autocross events.

Spacers are fine. Just make sure that you have at least 8 full turns of the lug nut.
