Talking Hey Everyone, Im a new member...

Hey everyone,

My name is Ryan and I am a freshman at Bentley College, in the Boston Area. I just wanted to say I have been reading post recently and it seems like everyone on the forum has a huge knowledge base about cars, the 944 in particular, and seem to be great, helpful, and friendly people. Im looking to get a 944 sometime soon, particularly a Guards Red 944, and was just wondering if anyone had any for sale around the area or in Albany, New York (which is where I am from). I am also looking to sell my 1989 BMW 325i for a very good price too. Well, enough about my problems I am hoping to learn alot about the car and hopefully purchase one soon.

Sincerely,
-Ryan

Go to this website and read the purchasing a 944 section,
http://www.clarks-garage.com/
Don't be scared, just get informed,
944's do not make good fixer uppers, buy one in great condition. It is a buyers market so you should be able to find nice example for a good price.
These are old sports cars and they need to be taken care of, if you look at a car that looks like it has been driven hard run away.

Ask for records/reciepts, anything on the car that has not been replaced will soon need to be.

Porsche 944 = the most fun you can have with your pants on!

Good luck!

WannaGuards944,
Welcome to the board. I went to Northeastern; Boston is a great place to go to school.

My mechanic is selling a red 944, with Carrera cup wheels. I can find more info if you want it

Welcome to the board. Good luck with your search for a 944. You won't regret it. It is the most fun car I've ever driven...

This board is a great place to get all of the info about 944s.

Ryan,

CJ has been around here a long time I would not hesitate to take a look at a car he recomends.

You may want to make friends with his mechanic just in case you find something on the car you don't want to work on in the future, good 944 mechanics are hard to find.

And the Carrera cup wheels are a nice upgrade.

I am in no way associated with CJ or any of his subsidiaries, the above comments are the opinion of the author and do not reflect the attitudes of the owners, you mileage may vary. brush and floss after every meal.

Thanks, I will take that into consideration. I am trying to avoid the hassle of selling my 1989 BMW 325i. Maybe someone would like to make a trade. Any more info on that Porsche would be great CJ. Thanks everyone!

Hey there WG944,
I live about 1/4 mile from where Trapelo road intersects with Lexington Street/Waltham street. So you are like 1 mile from me, and I have a gaurds red 89 944.....not selling it though. Maybe we should go for a drive sometime...I'm always happy to let a newbie try out my car, as long as you really know how to drive a stick. Actually, Trapelo road going away from boston (through Waltham, over 95, into lincoln, out to wayland) is one of my favorite twisty drives.

I own a 1989 BMW 325i, 5 -speed so I have been driving stick for about 3 years now. That would be great if we could meet up sometime and I can really see how good the 944 is. I will let you know when I am free sometime. Thanks alot!

Well, since Scottmandue gave me his esteemed endorsement, I should fairly tell you that although the car is BEYOND mechanically sound (it is owned by a Porsche mechanic, after all), the front splitter has a crack in it. Other than that, the car looks and runs great.

I will ask him info (mileage, price, etc) next time i talk to him.
