It seems like lots of you guys are Socal-ers. Anyone here have a good recommendation for a tint shop in Orange County? Feel free to relate your experience there as well.

Tint Connection on Newport Blvd in Newport Beach (where the 55 begins). I've had two cars done there and have been very happy with the results.

there is a tint that they have out here in san diego called ULTRA-SUN.
its legal to have it on ALL WINDOWS. even front and windsheild. from the outside, it is COMPLETELY black like a limo but from the inside of the car the tint is completely clear as if you had your windows down.. i think its like $150 for the hatch and quarter windows and then additional for the rest.. if you are ever gonna come down to SD, let me know. Not Orange County, but if you are in the area of Glendora/San Dimas then there is an a little shop that did mine for $120. Any color tint. This guy did a great job!! Everybody else wanted anywhere from $160 - $220
good luck! |

mideastmafia, isn't it illegal to have a dark tint in California? I would love to tint my window, but my friend told me it's not a good idea because the CHP tend to pull over the sports car with dark tint more often...and I don't want that...
Thanks in advance for any reply.. |

not this tint because it gives you FULL visibility

It is not the visibility of the driver that makes a tint legal or not. It is the visibilty of the officer that makes it legal or not. The principal of light refraction is at work here. The side of any glass with the most light acts like a mirror and it is very difficult to see in. You can see out but they can't see in. Basically, anything not "factory tint" is ILLEGAL in California! And it is not a secondary ticket. They can pull you over just for that reason! |

You may have a tinted side windows, and even the windshield may be tinted. However, it must be tinted glass, not applied tint material. Furthermore, it must allow 70% of the light to pass through. Your rear-side windows and rear window are exempt from the above limitation, provided that you have both left and right side-view mirrors. No applied tinting is legal on your front-side windows or windshield. You may use a pull-down shade on your side windows, provided you carry a doctor's authorization to use one. The only legal way to tint your windshield or front-side windows is to have yours removed, and replaced with tinted glass. Jon Furst '81 931/951 intercooler project |
