Thumbs down Anyone else thoroughly sick of Boxsters?

Everywhere I seem to turn I constantly see these pompus Herberts driving all slow in thier boxsters...I dont know what these people think they are driving (No pops its not the family mercedes) but it just kinda makes me sick...first of all I allways wave flash lights when I see a fellow porsche"R" driving around and when Im upstate I get lights flashed back and cheery hellos even if its froma guy in a brand new 911 or a guy in a boxster...I do it at home and get FILTHY looks especially from the pompus self rightous *****s in the boxsters...I think the demographics and the subtle styling of these cars are giving porsche a terrible name....the boxster S is a bit different(since the performance numbers are up there and the price too) anyone else have the same problem or general *****ing?...arrrrrrg-chris e85 944

I find that the people at the autox racing their Boxsters are very friendly and thoroughly enjoy their machines.
Yesterday, I spoke with Neigel about his Boxster and I told him that if he wants to move up to a BoxsterS, I'd gladly move up to his Boxster. His reply, "You mean move down to a Boxster!" I take that as a compliment. (BTW: His FTD was 3 seconds quicker than mine!)

My dentist just got a Boxster: he loves it, drives it well, and is planning to do a DE with it soon. (He also has a couple of Mercedes for those leisurely rides on Sundays! )

I am sure there are those 'posers' who buy the Boxsters for 'status symbols', for slow driving...etc. But there are those who buy it to drive it like it's supposed to be driven! To each his own, I suppose.

Just my $0.42.

it must be local to your area fty. the Boxster drivers around here all drive the wheels off of them. they are definitely some of the coolest Porsche owners in upstate NY.

Long Island.. nuff said. i would doubt that most of those Boxsters have gone 100 RPM above idle because they're afraid they'll "devalue" the car.

I think the Boxster definitely appeals to a different demographic than most Porsche owners; it's the same as when the 944 was new... here is an 'affordable' Porsche that can be had for the price of a Jeep Grand Cherokee or a Chevy Suburban. These old coots want a sports car - and it helps when it has a name like Porsche - and don't care about performance. All they care about is looking flashy and being trendy.

I haven't had any rude looks from Boxster owners so far. they always say that they are proud to meet someone that is expressing the marque of Porsche. Some people must have like god complexes with these cars. But that shouldn't degrade the reputation of Porsche.

Yeah... it's the same in Victoria (BC). Most Boxster owners are older yuppies. I've never seen one race, nor have I ever had a Boxster owner acknowledge me (that I've noticed). But other Porsche owners seem to be different. I dunno, maybe it's just that Boxsters are the "in" thing. Anyway, they are not cheap up here. A plain ol' regular Boxster is almost $70,000 Canadian ($50,000+ US).

Thumbs up

I love Boxsters - they're the best cars to pick on...lol. In all seriousness though they are decent looking and great handling cars although some owners here in Southern California, besides snubbing their noses at my 951, are a little clueless as to how underpowered they are.
