tires and wheels

I am faced with a delma. I need new tires and I want to do something special. I think that the upgrade to 17in wheels is a bit too expensive and I think that the 225 50 15's look a bit silly cuz there is so much wheel well showing. I guess I am looking for some 16in Fuch's or maybe some 15in fuch but Iam open to suggestions!!

another question what tires go well on 16X6 wheels can you fit a 225 on there??

Also if anyone has anything forsale let me know!!

thanks

incadently I have 2 BGF comp ta's 225 50 15 that are almost brand new that I could sell or trade

I like the 16" Fuchs. Mine have 225 45 16's and they fill out the wheel well nicely.

16x6 wheels will not fit 225. Porsche uses 16x8 wheels to fit 225/50/R16 tyres on the back of an S2. You could get away with 16x7. Use only the 16x6 with 205 tyres at the front, but I will steer away from 16x6 on a 944.

My phone dials are the stock 16s for the 951. Opinions are mixed on the results. But powdercoating an old, corroded set of phonedials can be cheap.

MAKE SURE YOU GET AT LEAST R-RATED TIRES!!!!

I cannot stress this enough. Not withstanding what size you get, YOU NEED AT LEAST R-RATED TIRES. Anything less will be horrible, horrible when you get into autocrossing. Plus you run the risk of tyres not properly suited for the car. Increases your chances of blowouts, which leads to terrible things.

ya know, I really want to get wider 225 tires, but I want one with a larger sidewall than 50. Mine are 215/60, and I really like the big, fat high-profile sidewall... it reminds me of an old Ferrari racecar, how the sidewall would puff out after the wheel itself. Since these things aren't exactly new sports cars - and then, in my opinion, not befitting of the low-profile look - i think that the big sidewall look really works.

is there any such thing as a 225/60/15 tire?

Brando, there is no such rating as 'R" (except in movies).

R is the designation for Radial.

Speed ratings are S,T,H,V,Z,W,Y.

For a normally driven 944, H or V rated will be fine, Z is also good, W or Y are overkill.
