My 87NA factory alarm had a number of shorts in the switches that control it- hood, doors, etc., and would go off on its own accord every now and then. Make sure the wiring to all the switches is good. Also be sure that the harness is not getting wet anywhere- the alarm brain in my car killed the dme with a big electrical surge when it got wet from a leak in the firewall.

Any time the voltage between the switches and the alarm brain varies, the car thinks it is being broken into. Be sure no H20 is getting in to the arming switch on the rear panel. It took a lot is searching to find my problem, and it turned out to be in a lot of different places.
The alarm brain is located nexto to the DME in the passenger foot well, it has blue writing on it and even says "alarm" on it. $160 from Porsche.

OK,thanks, i'll start there. It probably is wet cables or switches, it goes off alot more often since I moved to humid florida.
