great 951 weekend...

I finally took the plunge and decided that if I was going to keep my 951, I needed to do the maintenance myself. So.....to fix a clicking cv joint, I pulled the axle and repacked it. Results? No noise and NO VIBRATION! I had a terrible full boost vibration coming from the rear and now it is gone. I also installed a Reliaboost 1. Another big improvement (although I still have too much lag). Next step: thermostat and addressing the annoying clunks in the front end.

Thanks for all of the information and support from the BBS. This is the only resource that makes these cars truly affordable for the amateur mechanic.

If you are going to keep it and want to restore some peppy driving habits.

Get yourself a new wastegate (the stock one is probably on its way out), a Guru Chip set (he has had some bad customer service issues lately, but still the best chips for a stock car), and replace every bloody vaccum hose.

Then your lag will be under control.

Happy Boosting.
