Post Heater valve vacuum hose ?

My 89 944 n/a has constant hot air blowing. I found that the vacuum line to the heater valve is not connected to anything. The hose is green, about 6-7 inches long and has a 90 degree rubber boot on the unconnected end. Does this go through the firewall or hook up on the engine side? I can't seem to find an obvious connection.

I went thru this just a few weeks ago (on a 85.5 NA, I believe the older ones are slightly different). That vacum hose with the 90 degree end should connect at the firewall on a little brass-looking fitting that is between the heater hoses that run to and from the heatercore(near the battery tray). They are vertically arranged and it sits in between the two. The 90 degree connector is probably worn out and too big to stay on there anymore. Take the part to your local auto parts dealer and they can find one just like it in the back that will work, I think it cost me about 2 bucks....

Goes through the firewall just below and to the right of the battery area. If it's disconnected you may find the other end just poking out of this access hole. If not you will need to either find the original line or run a new one from the vacum solinoid. It's inside the glove box area.

Thanks for the quick response! I found it between the heater hoses, and yes the rubber fitting is worn out and loose, I'm off to the parts store. thanks again.
