A mouse ate my 944S2 vacuum line -- Please Help
Help!
A mouse ate through a small solid hose next to the battery in my 1989 944S2. There is a kind of reservoir (black can) next to the battery, and a flexible piece of hose comes from it. Inserted into that hose is a VERY thin piece of plastic tubing that goes past the battery and plugs into a larger flexible hose to the engine. I have no idea what this hose is for, but the mouse ate the solid and thin piece! Is there anything in this thin hose other than a center hole? I need to replace it. At present the thin, hard piece is chewed off and seems to be sealed, so the engine runs fine. but, there must be a small leak in it somewhere. What is this small plastic tubing called and is there a part number? What is this vacuum reservoir part of and why is it here? P.S. I also lost my right low beam headlight. There is no current to the yellow wire at the headlamp. The mouse must have gotten a cable somewhere (the ground is also gone on the right headlight). Any clues where to look? I took off the engine covers and searched around the front of the car, but saw no obvious mouse damage. The ground is easy, but can I run a new yellow wire from the fuse box??? Darn Mouse! Where is the battery on your S2 because mine is at the back of the car...
Maybe you could post a pic for reliable diagnosis... |

...............Get some justice Darkskies or maybe just mail him to Midwestshooter and let him do it! |
May be the vacuum reseviour. Does the canister have a domed top and mounts on the firewall? If so the tube eventually ties into the brake booster. On the booster there is a small valve with a plastic tube connected. See if that tube matches.
For every mouse you kill there are a dozen waiting to take it's place!! Sman |
Ouch, another guy lost the speedometer hammster... :D

But--why the short piece of hard platic tubing? Is it to keep the battery acid from destroying the hose??? Whatever, the mouse loved it! I bought 10 traps today! And a box of mothballs. Dick |

Plastic is less prone to oil ruining it or collapsing. Where in Iowa are you? I am in WDM.... Sman
