They are inexpensive and seem to be worth it; anyone have any experience? I am thinking about the 250lb springs, but AUTOMOTION only sells them for the front... is this normal. Should I just wait a couple years until I get new shocks to change the springs too?

Performance Products/Automotion has 220# springs for 110 bucks that are stock height. If you go to a lowered height, you'll probably need to get new shocks too. There only are springs on the front of 944's, the rear uses torsion bars. The fatter the stiffer is the deal with them, with the tubular style saving some weight too. My plans are to maintain stock height with stiffer springs front, install a strut brace, adjustable koni's all around and 26-27mm torsion bars rear (stock on the NA is 23.5mm). I think the Koni Sport shocks are height adjustable and compatible with either a stock ride height, or a lowered one. Most likely I will go with them in case I want to install lowered springs up front and do some serious autocrossing.

I wouldn't buy those springs unless you're also going to do something to stiffen up the rear. I'd recommend replacing the shocks at the time of the front spring change, as all of the labor will be performed to change the shocks, and you'll only need one alignment.
Other than that, these springs work quite well, and reduce high speed roll by a good bit, which inspires confidence. Ahmet ------------------ It's all the driver... My page over1g@hotmail.com Porsche owners Gallery.../My 944 |
