Anyone tried the drilled Barn Door ??
Has anyone tried the drilled holes in the barn door of the 944 air meter ??
I came across some posts on a search and was reading about it, but it was quite some time ago. I am curious as to any outcome of further discussions. Thanks Don __________________ 1984/85 944na Gold exterior / Black interior Los Angeles / San Diego Lookin for ideas etc...

Why? The AFS is a balanced flow design. If you reduce it's movement you will make your fuel mixture leaner and burn up the engine.
Again: Why?

In addition to drilling holes, one was also suppossed to loosen the spring. The end result was supposed to be more air without the computer changing the mixture or even knowing that there was more air .

Doesn't work that way. While it may appear that the flap causes restriction is really doesn't. Changing an NA to a MAF doesn't make any noticeable difference in the NA's performance. Unlike a turbo.
Now the balistics of the door movement, overshoot, is something to think about. I find it funny that some think turning the screw on the AFS will change the overall fuel balance. It only changes the fuel at an idle. Also remember that running rich will whack the CAT. Then you could always run a straight tube AKA "test pipe".

I would rather install this:
""Air Filter Bypass Kit- Many people replace air filters with high-flow versions for an extra few horsepower. We here at KaleCo have devised a much more efficient and more intelligent way of doing things. Pick up our air filter bypass kit and enjoy a nearly a free 15 horse power! Bypass that power-robbing and pesky air filter today, for much less than one of those "performance" air filters! Kit comes with everything you need to remove the air filter on most cars. KaleCo not responsible for mechanical failure after installing bypass kit. That's a pure coincidence. Kit can be used as many times as desired. Not for use on domestic cars, or cars using an exhaust tip less than a three inch diameter.""
