Ten speaker system

I am trying to upgrade my 3 speaker system ( Yes as in 924) to something better. I am trying to put my hands on the original Bose front speakers but I understand that the later 944s came with ten speakers. Is it possible to install that system in an early car? If so what parts would I need? How much cutting would be needed? and where?

Well it's not really ten speakers. Start counting the seperate drivers in the housing. You can get three if not more in one unit.

So three times four = 12 speakers!!!!!

I would find a decent replacement for the stock oval two driver speakers and get a decent power CD/radio unit to stick in the dash.

If yea are gone deef then get headphones.

P.S. You can put larger speakers in the back sides below the quarter windows with a wee bit of cutting. Done it.

Already had a very nice Alpine from the previous 924. In my 944, I dont have two door speakers..Its just like my 924, with one speaker in the dash.

HI-FI Sound

Lucky you. Read my post for IACV's. The speaker system you are questioning is the HI-FI sound package which I believe was available from model year 1987 and up. It uses a decent (Blaupunkt?) head unit, an equalizer under it, and large door speakers with modified door pockets. The rear speakers as well are also upgraded. There is a factory amplifier which mounts below the passenger side seat. I happen to have most of the speakers you'll need, and the passenger side door pocket. The door pocket has a larger grille to accomodate the speaker enclosure (not included). Have a dealer give you a price list with part numbers. The speakers I have are as follows: 944.645.419.00 X2 tweeters, 944.645.429.00 X2 woofers, 944.645.502.00 X2 tweeters with grilles. The door pocket is savannah beige but the carpet can easily be changed. Let me know.

Will a CD player fit in the 83 944? The slot for it is al the way at the bottom, so I'm thinking the disk would run into the shift knob.

I've got 2 rear decks of speakers i've got that will fit in the back, under the hatch. they go into the area behind the wheel wells.

Of course, i had to make these myself and i didnt quite get to covering them with vinyl to match my interior. They've got 1 10" sub, 1 5" midrange and 1 2" tweeter on each deck. I wanted to hook up an amp, but never got there.

They already fit any 944, so if you're interested lemme know. All you'd have to do is run the wire.

Brando,
You have your email blocked from here. What is your email address?
And what brand of speakers are those and how much do you want for them?

sorry there gordon. email is brando (at) thenetcase.com

I should have looked at who started the topic lol. Hell, if you do decide these are something you want Gordon, bring your 944 out here and i'll help you wire them up right and tidy.

I shall when i return from class will. it's actually quite nice. It just needs a lot of power to drive those subs. Sounds sweet too.
