I am changine the oil in my manual transmission. I was told that better oil will quiet rear diff noise. Do I need to spend $60 a gallon to get these results? Swepco oil was one mentioned are there any cheaper?

I use Mobile 1 synthetic oil in mine. 202,000 miles on my na 944 dailey driver and no noise. I believe it takes about 2 quarts (bad memory though) at about $9 per qt.

It only holds a tad over two quarts, You don't need a gallon!
