turned the key and what did I hear?
VROOOOM!!! thats right the engine spun to life! I have been looking for a 944 for 3 months and found a crappy one, with a good body, we bought it three weeks ago, and i had my eye on another for my main car, on this car we changed fuel filter, but didn't work, 2 injectors were stuck, broke those loose, didn't run, pump was bad, put on new pump, and it started, i drove it today for about 20 minutes around my dad's shop so did my dad and grandpa. the engine runs great, its an '83 140,000 miles and sat in one place the last 5 years, my dad is still surpirised how well it runs.
It needs, new paint, need to figure out where coolant leak is under car, new fog light, radio doesn't work, needs cleaning all over, new struts, tires, windshield wipers are always on, need new wiper fluid tank, a few other main things. i'd post a pic, but it never works, yesterday was a bad today, today was great...any advise on some of this stuff?? |
I'd buy a new radio. How do you know it needs new struts. Are they leaking?

I assume you changed the oil already. Also, the transaxle oil ought to be changed. Can't hurt.
After you drive it a while, you ought to take another look at the fuel filter. You ought to be able to easily blow through it. Don't know how much sediment might be in gas tank. |
well, the owner of the dealership did, but we are going to next week (change the oil), yeah-new radio, my grandpa who has been restoring cars for years drove it some, and that was one of the first things he said...

*BUMP*
come on guys, 2 posts? i just got my car running! |
glad you're running.

If it hasn't run for five years you need to immediately replace the timing and balance shaft belts! While you are there it will probably need water pump and front seals changing too. You should flush the brake and clutch fluid as well. Buying an old 944 is fine in theory, but usually you will be so upside-down on the deal that it's better to get one that someone else has already spent the money on. Just use it and save for a better one.
