Do you all think an n/a has adequate torque to skip second gear in the cold? I've tried it on my car, but it just seemed to be too much of a strain on the components, especially since the road turning out of my house is uphill. I shift at 3000rpm or less when the car is cold, btw. Now I just let the car warm up a little in the driveway before driving in cold weather.

Hmm, one question about the double clutching.
I always rev it in neutral, to match the rev's before it goes in gear, makes it go in much smoother. Isn't that the correct way?

Personally, I don't like to skip second in the cold, I feel like I am really lugging it hard, because you have to push it to about 3500 in 1st, then it is only like 1500 in 3rd.
One thought, if it is rough going into second in the cold, then your gear oil is getting thick. If it is thick, it takes more energy to make the gears turn, therefore it is even harder on the engine to skip second...

On a side note, anyone tried Royal Purple? I've heard it works wondering in 914s and we've used it in the BMW quite successfully.

Anyone tried it in the 944?
