A couple of months ago, I got into a little fender bender with my 83' 944. A very old woman panick stopped (without a good reason, I might add) while merging from an on-ramp. I stood on my brakes as hard as I could but the wheels did'nt even lock up and I plowed into the truck. All the damage was done to my car as it rode up under the pickup. Her steel bumper did'nt even have a scratch! My bumper is pushed out on one side, the signal light is ripped out on one side, and the bumper and nose panel have some deep gouges and are scratched up. Anyway, when I brake hard, the car slows down, but the pedal feels very weak and sinks farther done than it should. I had all 4 brakes done (pads and rotors) about 5,000 miles ago. Is my master cylinder shot?? Weak calipers??

could be a master cyl problem or maybe the brake booster... with the car off pump the brakes until it won't go down anymore and hold it there... start the car, if the booster is working right, the pedal should go down, if not, it's bad.... there are a couple versions of the booster, so take it with you for replacement.... if it passes that test, then it's most likely the master cyl. It's doubtfull that all your calipers are bad at the same time
