Please help me and take a good pic
 

of the 924 Turbo plate, located on the intake. (See picture below)
I need a GOOD quality pic, taken exactly from above, with the plate over the whole picture field. Would be great if you have optical zoom.

I will try to create such plate.
The original plate cant be ordered any longer from Porsche!

Why not do a rubbing and scan it in? Or do you not have a decent one to do a rub on?

Correct. I have a blank space, where the plate should go!

Somebody must have this plate and a digital camera, or?

Also measure the opening including the radius at the corners and post it here for me.

The radius, I dont know. I would guess ~5mm. The opening is
~165 x 20 mm. I already have a stainless steel plate in this dimension.

I have already searched for pics on several web pages, including the one you mentioned.
I really dont understand why it should be such problem for some one to take a pic of this plate.
OK, many may have lost theirs, but some one should still have it.

The "problem" is that few here have a 931 turbo. Better luck at the forum on the 924.org site.

Thanks for the measurements. I now need to know what the length of the flat sides are before the radius. I can figure the radius them.

Why?

Well I may be able to load the graphic into Paint Shop Pro, tweak it flat, load that into Acad, do a 2D then derive machining instructions. Could do a 3D but I'll see how the 2D comes out.

Here is a raster image of the Acad file I just whipped up.

The Acad file is a vector file. Accurate to 20 decimal places.

A good photo would certainly clean this up to the point of being machineable.

Let me know the falt side measurements between the radii and I can figure them out.

If you want a machine shop to mill you a name plate then I need to know what type of file they will need.

I needed the Acad practise. Been a while since I threw lines.

This out of work thing sucks. Have to keep myself busy.

I've been "doing" Acad since 1987. Still need to install my speed up menus and lisp routines into Acad 2002. I hate the stock menus.

Its 15.3mm between the radius, long side and 13mm between them on the short side.
Hey, but only do this if you are bored. I'm quite satisfied with the pics you made.
I have Pro/Engineer at work, but its hard to do something. But maybe I can try to import your pics as a kind of layer.

Also have an Acad file of a hood emblem that I outlined. Passed it on to a RennLister to cut some steel sheet metal from.

I'm working on some 1930's wood sailplanes. Converting 3 views to buildable scale RC. Keeps me busy.
