Right now I have a 1987 Porsche 944S, but it has been run into a couple of times and the body isn't so perfect anymore. However, about two years ago I had the engine rebuilt.
If I were to buy a standard 944 (Say another '87 with a blown engine) and put the 944S engine in it, how much faster would it be? The 944S uses the longer gearing of the turbo, except for fifth gear, so I believe the shorter ratio tranny in the 944 would improve acceleration times a lot, especially with the 188hp. Please give me some feedback! -oliver 1986.5 928S 1987 944S |

You would probably better of just buying a good 87 NA and selling the S off for parts.
It sounds a lot of work for not much or a result...thought about a 951? |

That "S" head is worth at least $1000 on Ebay. Probably a couple bucks for that block too. Id sell it and never look back personally.

I am with Erick, part that ***** out and sell it. You could get a 951 instead of a blown NA.

Almost pointless. Yes you would go faster, but not much faster than a nicely modded N/A, and your powerband is higher soooo, I duno really.
To answer the question not asked, it's not worth it, sell it and invest in a 944 Turbo |
