Taking out the rear hub
 

Hey guys, I have a little noise coming from the back that sounds like the E-brake shoe too loose. I know that the right side doesn't stop when the E-brake is pulled, so I want to open it up and take a look.

First of all, I'm having a problem taking off the spacer, which seems to be stuck, is it okay to hammer it away with a flat tip screwdriver?

Once I remove the screw on the hub, the haynes says I can just pull the hub/rotor off, is that so? has anyone done this with success and can help me ...?

Tap the spacer, that should get it unstuck. I wouldn't pry on it, this could damage the mating surface, and cause the wheel to be improperly aligned when you put it back on (however insignificant that may be).

The screw is probably in there tight, don't remember if it's reverse tread, so watch out.

PS: You're not actually removing the hub, just the brake rotor, hub stays on the control arm, along with the stub axle (only pulled out when doing rear bearings).

Thanks Ahmet, I was afraid to bang on it as well. The weird thing is that on the other side, the spacer comes out real easy, and the screw is also easy to remove ... is that okay? should I tighten it alot to get it up to spec?

Also, I have another question for you, I'm in the market for new Michelin tires, can I fit 225mm wide tires on my stock cookie cutters without any modifications?

I know you have 225 on the front and 245 on the rear, did you get new rims to do that, or did you just mount them onto the stock rims?
