Thumbs up WebCam for 944

Wanted to give a final update on the no-run after Cam install:

1) The end cap that is not supposed to be able to turn because of the cotter key in the cam. Well.....it can spin slightly, and did.
It seems that the rotated end cap caused the rotor to face cylinder 3 instead of number 1 at TDC.
No harm to the valves because the cam and the flywheel were in perfect syncro, just the hub that carries the rotor turned.

2) Once everything was put right, the cam is magnificent!! This should be a possible upgrade for every N/A. The sound is inspiring, just a little bit aggressive and it spins up nicely.

3) One of the Porsche should have been items:
An alignment mark on the cam sprocket to verify the rotor or
end cap placement.

Other than this little mixup, this is a relatively easy upgrade. The cam was Webcam grind #274 (.480x254X234). It lists for $440 but you may be able to get a discount at your favorite porsche shop.

Other cost: timing belts if you are close on your 40K cycle, assembly lube (Web sends a small tube), and a new cam gasket, and cam oil seal.
You may want to invest in a good set of long allen wrenches for the cam carrier (have an easyout ready for the allen bolts that you strip out).

Other than my little challenge with the timing key (not webcam's fault), I am extremely happy with the cam! This is a nice Saturday afternoon project!

actually my wife likes the sound....less rice. The best thing is the ease of install, only a few hours. Money spent always is much less painful when it is in or on the car quickly, and is much easier to explain by going for a spin in a sportier ride.
