Expensive.

Not that I condone the street stuff that you get into but I do understand. The crowd that you are around can be a major influence.

If you decide to continue with your rebelious ways.....

Don't just fix it, it will break again.
Get the beefiest upgrades you can buy...look to the racing sites.

I am sure some of the guys on the board will give you tech help (even the ones you fight with ;-) )

Doesn't matter on upgraded trannies either, just a waste of more money to repair/replace it.

Trannies break for 2 reasons only- poor upkeep and driver error. The trannies in all the 944 model cars need to be treated with finesse.

People seem to think that the quickest way to speed is in shifting. Not so. The smoother the shift the more accurate and time reducing it is. Slammin gears like a drag car will break the Porsche tranny in very short order. This is also a major reason for kittens getting killed! Over rev and miss or hurry the shift and lose timing in the pedal work.

This is 2000.00 worth of advice.......Be kind to your tranny!

Sman

I personally don't see much of a point to shifting at redline. The powerband seems to rest very solidly between 3000-5000 rpms.

Go up just enough that it your next shift is in that zone and it should be faster than 'redline ing' right?

Note the bold letters in the original post.
Once again Zlatko has shown us that he is boss...what fools we were to think he was nothing but a mechanical lightweight who made the idiotic decision of buying a 944 for straight line....err...."racing."

Nice, Zlatko. You gotta try something better, like:

IF you can read this, reply "Jabberwocky!"

A) It's too early for April Fool's jokes.

or

B) That must of been the "10th time and thunk" refered to in the video thread.

Yup, he got me.

No big deal though. I will just save my first post for when it really happens.

You should have gotten the "big push" into your driveway on video as well.

the boy who cried wolf story comes to mind... It won't be so funny when you destroy it for real, zlat.

BTW, when you do sell your car for parts, i'm interested in passenger side tail light and antenna.

Now that I finally get it I revoke my original reply although it would be humorous to watch. I do like Z-Man's post and this is a reply to it.
