Testimony

I have had my 85.5 944na automatic since march 1998. New tires , radiator, fan relay and thermostat changed to fix a high temp reading. Guards Red paint job in Dec '98 and the transmission overhauled. Smash into the rear of a Rodeo in '03 and replaced the right front fender and front end. Also the oil filter was smashed and a piece of oil filter o-ring was causing a high oil pressure reading and had to clean out the Oil Pressure Relive Valve. Repainted the front end in '03. This is my daily driver, 40 miles per day with no problems. Just my experience with the 944. I rather drive the 944 than my '94 Impala SS on a daily basis. The 944 leather seats are cracking but not split yet. Seats repair is my coming project. I hope my daily joy and lack of problems continue. At 59, I do not ride my 1985 V65 Magna regularly and have 11,000 miles on the bike.

Re: Gort...

I heard somewhere they were supposed to make a "sequel" in which Klatuu's daughter comes to Earth to see how we're doin'.

Wouldn't that be great!!

Why knock Cebu for his enthusiasm Gearhead-we should be glad for someone doing something to improve the car without making it Rice. Sometimes posts get more feedback when guys post OT's like Politics,or just try to be reactionary and abusive.

hi cebu. i hope your "relatively" trouble free motoring continues.
i constantly have a love/
hate affair with my car. for the first 2 years of ownership, i had no problems at all, and wondered why people had all kinds of problems.
since the last 4 months, now i know why!! i get all bent out of shape, mainly because of what i construe to be poorly made parts, that seem to be designed to last for less than a year. however, when all repairs are made, and my car is running well, and its a beautiful day, there is no way i'd give up owning, and running my car, as its just a joy and pleasure to drive.
happy motoring!

LOL - "seriously". You gotta love kids and the way they talk before any consideration these days.

But if we're talking about the bulett-proofness of 944s, then I'll second that. As a whole, they're made of heavy duty, quality parts but most folks forget that the newest ones are nearing 13+ years of age by now. So you'll have wear & tear. He's right - I'd elect to drive my 944 over most other new cars availible today. In June, I'll make my TENTH round-trip voyage to the Canadian GP in Montreal from Pittsburgh in as many years in a 944. My friends think that I'm nuts; I never really have any hesitation.
