Best bet is to upgrade the calipers, but if you want later turbo versions (brembo 4 cyl) you will need the front turbo spindles as well. One tack would be to just buy upgraded pads and frozen or drilled rotors. Check the catalog here to see what's offered.

What year is that 944?

If its an 86 .... you need....

Strut, Spindle, Rotor, Caliper, pads for the front from a 86 Turbo... You already have the 951 aluminum control arms......

and the rear calipers and rotors bolt up......

rims you are using may not clear...........

I believe you need to use the 17" rims also.

I can tell you that you do need improved brakes. My '84 has enough rubber that I can decelerate from high speed on the highway where I live (rural area) and I can lay on the brakes about as hard as I can, and the wheels will not lock up and the fade won't allow the car to haul down. Therefore even a stock 150-hp 944 could use more brakes. I admit this is a real test for any brake system, as it puts a "maximum event" test to the system. The road going "non race" system, however, isn't quite up to this kind of test.

A little less than a year ago I contacted Wilwood about a possible brake upgrade for my 87 944S. They said that they could not recommend any of their calipers for my car. This is apparently not the case for all Porsches, as I had Wilwood brakes on my 914 with 5 bolt hubs.
