Parts Checklist for T-Belt

Ok, so I'm getting ready to order the parts to do my T-Belt. I'm using the directions off of Clarks-Garage.com. Some of the descriptions/names there are kinda confusing me with the ones that Pelican has. Anyone care to look this list over and give me a hand?

I have:
Car
Food/Drink
Kriket
Too much time on my hands

I need:
Camshaft (Timing) Belt
Camshaft Water Pump Roller
Balance Shaft Belt
Tensioner Roller for Balance Shaft Belt, toothed
Tensioner Roller for Balance Shaft Belt, idle roller
Fly wheel lock
Front engine seal kit
Woodruff keys
Cam belt roller?

Is that everything I'm going to need?

Oh my god, I'm going to get an ulser...

Re: Parts Checklist for T-Belt

You need:

Woodruff keys
Fly wheel lock
Front engine seal kit

Balance Shaft Belt
Tensioner Roller for Balance Shaft Belt, toothed
Tensioner Roller for Balance Shaft Belt, idle roller

Camshaft (Timing) Belt
Cam belt roller
Camshaft Water Pump Roller.
Do you have the updated waterpump? or not? Guiderail? Determines what size of roller you need as well.

May as well add the AC/alternator belt and power steering..... and you will be done for a while....

I'd do the water pump while you're in there. . .

How important are the Woodruff Keys? I recently placed an order but didn't ask for those.

Edit

Oh and Alex are you coming this way for any reason, could use some advice.

Ah, didn't think so.... Wish me luck.

The water pump was put in about 2 years ago. I assume I can just take a gander at it to determine if I have the new type, correct? The guy loved his Porsche's, so I'm rather sure it's the updated style but you can't be too careful..

The roller you are referring to is the Cambelt Water Pump roller, correct? Just making sure...

Nope, I'm sure there will be plenty of those. More people talk to you when you drive a "Porsch", you know. So this girl asks me, when are you going to pick me up in your PORSCH? I told her, "well since you didn't talk to me BEFORE I bought it, I wouldn't hold my breath".

Oh yea, and this absoutley gorgeous girl who happens to be my best friend, asked if she could come over to watch. How cool is that? She's hot, toned up, funny, smart, and LOVES my car. Ain't I the lucky one...

I hope my parts get here soon, I really miss my car.

OK, I'm finally placing the order, here is what I have:

PEL-TOL-P233 Flywheel Lock, 944 All
- This part typically takes 3 business days to ship.

PEL-043-065L Front Engine Reseal Kit, 944 from '85, 924S, 944S, 944S2, 944 Turbo
- This part typically ships out within 24 business hours.

E-102-219-04 Balance Shaft Belt, 944/968 All
- This part typically ships out within 24 business hours.

E-105-157-04 Timing Belt (Cambelt), 924S, 944, 944 Turbo
- This part typically ships out within 24 business hours.

E-102-277-06 Tensioner Roller for Balance Shaft Belt, idle roller, 944/968 All
- This part typically ships out within 24 business hours.

E-102-025-07 Tensioner Roller for Balance Shaft Belt, toothed, 944/968 All
- This part typically ships out within 24 business hours.

Timing Belt Roller on Water Pump (32mm), 924S thru early '87, 944 thru '86, 944 Turbo '86
- This part typically ships out within 24 business hours.

I think I'm missing something, I think it's the cam belt roller or something, but I can't seem to find it. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough.

Is this list complete? Thanks again

Yea, 15K.

Can't hurt anything, can it? Check the tension every 15K, replace every 30K, and H2O pump along with it, you should be just fine.

There was a correction made to the original recommended factory maintenance interval schedule by Porsche in the late 80s (pretty sure) after a bunch of timing belts snapped and irritated owners had to replace bent valves. I believe the "official" number is now 30K for replacement (I'll try to verify this) but an awful lot of people at LEAST check the tensions every 15K.

You're supposed to do it all every 30-45K. It's ~250 in parts, and about ~800 in labor, but I'm doing my own labor so I'm not too concerned.

Can anyone verify if I'm missing anything?

BUMP.

Am I missing anything?

I've had this car for almost 2 months, pay out the ass for insurance, and I can't even drive it yet. What is missing from the parts list?

Thanks

What kind of shape is your cam housing gasket in? This is a great time to replace it since your belts will be off. You will need the wrenches used to adjust the tensioners. They are thin wrenches with a bent handle. I ordered them from www.arnnworx.com. Bruce was very timely and good to deal with. I think they are like $25.
Good luck. Make sure to recheck your tension after 2000 miles. While my cam belt settled in to its used tension setpoint the balanced shaft belt registered .5 on the P9201 tool.

If you need a hand with something I am located 15 miles West of Janesville. If I remember correctly you are East of Janesville. Correct? During the week is busy but I usually have some time during the weekend. (unless something is planned) If you get it done in a couple of weeks would you be interested in the Tennessee trip? www.tailofthedragon.com . There are a couple of guys from Madison going with me and we are going to meet up with ilikemy944 from Georgia and a couple of others.

Good point SP944. I think I might replace that as well since I am going to be in there. The temptation to re-cam the beast is quite strong, but I think my wallet is going to make me hold back for now:-/ Maybe next time, ey?

The Tennssee trip sounds like a blast, I should be out of school by then, and I could probably get some time off work. Do you happen to have the exact dates? I'm hoping to start the T-belt this coming Sunday morning, and have it done by Sunday night, so I should definately be ready to go. Yea if you're not busy, it'd be cool to have you stop by to work on the t-belt with us (padre and I). I live in Gurnee (if you've heard of it:-P) and padre lives in McHenry, which is where we'll be doing it.

As someone else asked earlier, how important are the woodruff keys? I've heard they can take quite awhile to get, and as I mentioned, I'm hoping to have it done by next monday. I can just call up a dealer, and get the entire set, right?
