Putting a turbo engine in my car ...

Im looking at one on ebay at the moment ...Exactly how hard would it be to put it in or is it pretty much a straight forward swap? It comes with all induction and exhaust parts but not the bell housing ..I can use my bell housing correct? I will need a computer though ...do an sites sell a modified one?

Porsche once had a magazine ad which showed all the changed parts NA to Turbo. Their point was that in order to do it correctly suspention mods, brakes and other items were beefed up... Changing just the engine might not be the best move...good luck

i wouldnt flame him. i think if you have a a shell that you like and have put a tone of money into, most likely more than the car is worth already, why not keep putting money into it? this is by the way what you enjoy isnt it? i dont think you would even be considering doing something like this unless you liked do it.

If you decide to do it let me know how much it costs you. I plan on doing the same to my 924S and make a really good sleeper.

Well the thing is I spun my rod bearing. I dont have the time to rebuild the engine at the moment but swapping it in with another might be an option. My S2 has beefed up brakes and suspention stock so I dont see the problem putting a turbo engine in it except that it wont have the s2 engine in it anymore. The only problem i forsee is some of the wiring. Oh ...and if the engine is cheaper then the rebuild ..then why the hell not?

Also if i put that engine in I could always rebuild my s2 engine after and if the turbo ever dies just swap it out or I could sell the engine.

Yes folks, Cooler is NOT a newbie.

The S can def. handle the swap.

That S Engine should be able to find a nice home somewhere.

I'm not throwing stones at "the cooler".. I saw a TLC program on a guy who calls his creations "rad rides". He put a twin supercharged unit in an old bel air Chevy. If I ever get cancer, my make a wish would be having that rad rides guy's team refresh my 944. That or to lick Tyra Banks, it's a toss up....

Isn't the S2 a three liter?

You will need the DME and the harness. Most everything else in the chassis should work.

Might need the exhaust as well as the complete engine. Complete means air box to the clutch. Including the bracket for the TWO sensors.

You should be able to sell your "scrap" S2 engine and DME for what it will cost to do the turbo conversion.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

To answer the question, You'll need the DME and wiring harness.

The bellhousing will fit. You'll need the turbo exhaust, (of course) but it should fit. IIRC the tranny is already capable of the turbos power.

Good Luck! Take Pictures, lot of pictures of the process.

Do you really want to switch to a Turbo from the S?

I have heard from many sources that the 3L S is more desireable.
