Thermostat

Qouting the Factory Owners Manual:

" The Radiator fan is electriclally driven. It is switched on automatically by a thermostat when coolant reaches 198 F......the fan will run until the collant has reached 189F an untill the negine has cooled..."

Did I read somewher you can get a 160 degree thermostat?

Mine runs at the third bar in 80 degree weather. I need to cool that thing down a bit. ( scheduled belt replacement in 2 weeks. gonna do the water pump also,)

anything else to check? (Iv bleed the system, no air bubbles)

I think its referring to the temp sender that kicks the fans on.....

Not the thermostat in the water pump....

Mine ran close to, sometimes past the third mark.

I changed the thermo fan switch and thermostat to the low temp ones, along with the waterpump. belts, etc and she now sits at the first mark most of the time.

Spirited driving with a/c on close to the centre.

I've also updated my grounds and a new bathery. No gauge jumping either.

I do not have the pn but the NAPA has them in stock always. 160 deg.

If you switch thermostats you will need to switch to a lower temp fan switch. Do a search. I posted recently the whole problem that it creates. They really do need to match temps to have uniform cooling and a guage that doesn't flip around alot.

My silver car kept around the 3rd bar. Went to a low temp thermostat and switch, now it stays between the first and middle bar. It has been being around 90 here in Nashville the past week.
