windshield wipers and a few other questions
My wipers only have one speed. When I flip the switch to go faster it still has the same speed.
What can I check to see what the problem is? Any short cuts that I can perform, like jumping the wiper motor or checking the relay. If any of the above ideas could be performed to check them I need help on how to go about it. This sounds funny but how do you operate the manual sunroof. I know how to open it but what do I do to hold it up.Pictures would help if someone has any. Last question. When I first start my car my oil pressure is at 5 bar. When Im driving it stays around 4 and idle it drops to 2. Now after about an hour of driving it drops to 1 sometimes and before I changed oil from 10w 30 to 20w 50 it bottomed out and I heard the engine start knocking. So im sure the guage is working correct. Any ideas. Thanks in advance. '83 | 944 |
how many miles has the engine done? I had the same problen with my IROC - the engine is a little worn, so in summer i run Valvoline Race 50, and then in winter i drop it to Race 40. These are straight weighted oils so theoretically they dont lose as much viscosity when the engine temp rises. Took care of the problem instantly.

Alot of my friends told me to try straight 50. I might give that a shot in the next few days.

Changed the oil seems to help. Will find out when I go to work Monday.
If only I had the answers to the rest Id be in good shape. |
Had the same oil prob with my 86...it was the oil pressure releif valve.
I run Moble 1 15/50 I changes it from 10/30 and it increased the prossure a little. Anyhow could be that the OPRV is guncked up |
my suggestion: before your next oil change drain out a quart. Get a huge thing of Marvel Mystery Oil, and add a quart of that in there. Run the car very hard for a day (between 3k and 5.5k rpms) and put some miles on it. Do your oil change the next day and it should come out very dirty. This is good. I've used Marvel Mystery oil to clean out oil systems before, it helps immensely, especially on cars that have sat for a few years like my 924.

There are two wiper speeds for the 83. The column switch selects them. There is also a fixed rate intermintent. The wiper relay does this. Need to check the power to the connector at the wiper motor to see if the column switch is working. If it is then your motor may be shot.
Use the rear levers to hold up the roof. Turn them around to that the ends fit into the rain gutter on the roof. |
