Need help! I have a 1990 944s2 and want to check my radiator fan relay to see if it is bad before I spend $100 for a new one. The fan keeps runnig! If you live in or near Chatham N.J. and have a 944 and want to help me out by letting borrow yours for a test please let me know.
Thanks, Robert

Just pull it out, and take to it with a multitester, and a 12V battery with resistors to limit current. I wish I could give you pin numbers to check, but I haven't seen the relays in the 1990. I think Clark's Garage had a testing procedure outlined. And if you ever decide to sell the car, PM me, would ya? I'm looking for an S2.

Thanks! Do you have the e-mail for clarks garage? I think it will be awhile before I sell my cab as I looked a long time for one that was in excellent condition,

I don't believe it's the relay. I had the same problem where the fan drained my battery down. It turned out to be the thermo-switch. That brass thing in the radiator. I had to remove the belly pan, then lower the radiator fans down befor I got a wrench on it. I had a posting earlier about this.

I've had the reverse problem--my thermofan switch closed about 10 deg higher than it should have. The testing procedure does involve checking that switch, but I guess I assumed that he checked it. Should be simple enough--if disconnecting it turns off the fans, it's stuck closed.
