Controlled high speed power slides.

Do a search on the internet, many sites have downloadable video.

there is a lot of it here www.rx7club.com . difting is the sport of controlabling sliding your car.... basically someone makes thier car skid sideways in a somewhat controled fashion.

Heh, sorry, just thought that was funny. A drift is a controlled slide that begins BEFORE the apec of the corner. It can also be done in a straight line.

IT IS NOT A POWERSLIDE!!! That has been argued many times on different forums for nissan and mazdas.

Well if it has been (and I assume continues to be) argued then there are still 2 sides.

I have seen drifting, you are under power while sliding; therefore...

Not saying you are wrong, just giving my opinion without having you tell me I am.

I got a one word definition of drifting: 'slow'.
Although, it can look pretty cool, anybody seen the RUF video with the 911 sliding around the nurburgring billowing smoke off the rear tires?

If one were to attempt a powerslide it would involve powering the a$$ out at the end of the corner, or after the apex. However, a properly executed drift will be started long before the apex.

Nobody said it was the fastest way around the track...

welcome to the club man!!! Been there, just not as extreme. But it's all part of the game, live and learn! Just don't give up.

I've only had one really bad curbing incident, but quite a few minor ones. Body work is expensive, I should probably learn how to do it, would have saved me some $$$.

You didnt get the punchline gearhead.

I wasn't intentionally drifting to that result. The car did it all by itself! That telephone pole just came on up and attacked me!

Cool drifting~slip angle

For ALOT more elegant explaination of what it is, how much it should be exploited and why hangin WAY out looks cool and is way slow get your hands on a copy of the skippy-school-in-a-can aka "Going Faster" Skip Barber Racing School in Video- signed second goy who "HATES the Rain!" (see the vid)

seems to me there's some disagreement about what drifiting is. I suppose that makes sense, because I've tried to do a lot of the maneuvers listed above, and once you're going fast enough to get the car loose enough to move like that, you pretty much just want to get it back in line.

Seems to me that videos might help. Since none of us can really do this stuff in our cars, let's take votes on what we think this is called?
