New parking brake problem
Why does my 944 hate me? I only give it premium gas, synthetic oil, and all the loving that the state allows.
I went to the parts store at lunch today to see if they had some Leatherique that was highly touted in another post. When I got to the store, I parked the car and yanked up on the parking brake. Instead of the usual clicks, there was no sound and the brake handle went right back down. Is there a simple fix for this. My old VW's used to have this problem, but the button would pop out too. With this, the button is still in tact and you can press it.

UconnTim97, thanks for the link. SoCal Driver, thanks for the original thread. I went to the parking lot after I ate lunch and fixed the problem. Next week I will go back and adjust the parking brake.

If you guys knew how many of these I fixed working for an independent VW shop in the late 60' early 70's!
Have to adjust your parking brakes at the rear wheels after you flip the pawl over.

Socal is correct again, After I installed the new pawl, it flipped over after the first time I pulled the parking brake. After adjusting the parking brake properly, the pawl hasn't flipped yet...
