I need some help with my car.
My 944 runs great. I love that thing. It had a little idle problem a few weeks back, but it seemed to be the air filter needed replacing. Runs like a champ. I currently have a problem with my 78 928 and nobody ever goes to that board so that is why I am asking here. I had not driven it in a few weeks, started it up today 1st turn of the key, warmed it up and drove about 1/4 mile before it stalled out and still will not start. It has gas in it. I put a few extra gallons in out of a container just in case. I can't trust those old gauges and it is turning over and all dash lights are on as well as the power windows working fine. Any ideas? Your help is always appreciated. The battery is older, but I think it is fine.

Go back to the CIS basics. Check the fuel pressure, control pressure etc. Does the sensor plate have free movement?
When you move the sensor plate with the key in the on position, can you hear the fuel pump kick on? AFJuvat

After you try to start it. Go back to the exhaust tip and sniff it to see if you smell gas. If you do check your ignition system. If you do not then your problem is in the fuel system and we can go from there.

Fuel pump fuse was blown. Replaced it with a new one. Turned the key heard the sweet sound of the pump and it fired up instantly. Any ideas why it would blow besides the obvious "a short".

Simple corrosion of the fuse, a worn fuel pump, either could cause the problem.
