How critical is this.....

I was just underneath my car about to lossen the allen for the coupler from the torque tube to the trany, when I marked the trany shaft it suddenly occured to me that this part was not going to be on the new trany so i would have no referance mark when putting the car back together with the new trany.....so how critical is it that the coupler is on the right spline of the new tranny shaft.....????

I fail to see why it would make a difference. The coupler is balanced, the torque tube shaft is balanced and the clutch disk is balanced. There is nothing else on the torque tube side that can be aligned.

It's not critical at all. Just make sure when you reinstall the new tranny to run the bolt back down and properly torque it.

Okay for some reason (cost?) the PO put two 5/16 grade 2 or 3 bolts to hold the trany to the tranny mount...of course the bent.....does any one know the proper part that is supposed to reside there, the dealer is closed and it doesnt seem like i can find a grade 5 or 8 bolt that long........I would really like to get this thing running tongiht...any help??

Thank god Porsche built tractors.....I went and got two grade 8 5/16 bolts that where 4.5in long from the Tractor Supply Company and mounted my tranny, it all worked out great except that the torques for the cvs kept stripping, im going to replace them with new allen head bolts here soon but its done i finished.....in the morning im going to take it around the block illeagaly of course, no plates no inssurance, but eh at least ill know if everything works!!!!
