Trans noise
 

I have a 944 turbo and just noticed that when i back up it makes the usual noise a manual trans makes while reversing only it does it still does it with the clutch in rolling back out of my driveway. Is this normal for these cars being the trans and rear are one piece and i just never noticed before or is there a problem?

Shouldn't be a problem.

Unless there are gear engagement problems, I wouldn't worry too much

if the clutch is in but you are still in reverse, the reverse idler gear is still engaged, and since it has no syncro and its a straight cut gear, it will make that wining noise. Oh how Id love to have a gearbox that sounded like that all the time...of course it would never last on the street:D
