Clogged Radiator !!

Ok, I think i have finally found the cause of my overheating problems.

I believe the radiator is clogged. I had a small leak start on me about a week or two ago, the car began running ALOT hotter than usual. Tonight while trying to find the problem i noticed that all of the coolant hoses were warm and when i bleed the system coolant also comes out, which leads me to believe that the water pump is in fact functioning. However, I also noticed that the radiator is not getting the least bit warm! I believe that leak has occured because of the pressure that builds up as the water pump is trying to push water into a clogged system.

I hope thats clear enough to make sense.

I was thinking about trying some radiator flush, any words of caution when using it ?

Thanks!

Inconclusive.

You have a bad radiator, bad thermostat, or a non functioning waterpump.

944 radiators are not really known for clogging. It happens, just not too often.

Radiator flush will not remove a clog. You can try backflushing it.

If your radiator is plugged pull it out and take it to a radiator repair shop to have it rodded out. Normally the deposits inside a radiator are hard and will not be removed by chemicals.

Make sure the thermostat is not stuck closed, then attack the radiator. A few years ago I had a cold radiator. It was about 70% clogged. Flushing it didn't work and no shop that would unclog an aluminum radiator. I ended up buying a new one from PP and never had an overheating issue since.
