My boss used to have a 5000. I told him he should have saved the tranny out of it so I could keep it as a spare for the 944 .

But that car was gone long before I was even around.

It is an audi tranny actually. If you've ever looked at it closely, the tranny actually says Audi on it. The plastic cap in the rear is meant for a transfer case and a driveshaft addition. One of my VW dub friends did some searching on it, and technically with a few parts, you could convert an Audi 5000 tranny to fit the Porsche. Not saying it would be strong tho.
