Hi: I have a 1987 944 na. I would like to convert the front system to 1988 944 Turbo :
axle ; hub; rotor; calipers; I will go to stainless brake lines. Is there any reason at all why these parts sould not just bolt on and have all the arms etc connect up properly ? I also have Weltmeister 250# springs for the front. I'm looking for the 1 inch spacer that prevents the car from being 1.0 inches lower than stock. With all the chuck holes and road work going on in the Seattle area I begin to think they are using the Jersey Turnpike for a role model. My concern is that I'll be replacing spoilers everytime I drive up a steep incline. So if anyone has a set of these spacers please let me know. Thanks in advance a newbee |

So are you looking for understeer? Because that's what you're going to have all kinds of...

Gearhead290 what is the basis for the comment ? The axle etc or the springs. That said will the parts bolt up?

All of that should bolt up with no problem (provided that by "axle" you mean "spindle").
The spacers you need are available thru www.*****************.com. I *think* that Gearhead's commentary was directed at the fact that 250lb front springs will create understeer if you don't do anything to increase the effective springrate by the same amount at the rear of the car. That is the case on a normal 944. By your username, I take it the car has a V8 in it, or is getting one? If that is the case, depending on which V8 is swapped into it, a higher rate may be in order. If the weight is increased at the front of the vehicle, one would need alightly stiffer springs to get the handling back to a more balanced state. These cars are pre-set with a slight amount of understeer from the factory anyway. My guess is that even with a V8 up front, and without any rear spring rate increase (is that the case?), a 200lb spring may be more in order.

Consider that your car bone stock already pushes. Add it it just the 250lb front springs and you will have even more push. Suspension tuning is all about balance. You really need to stiffen up the rear a notch or two to acheive a good balance. Problem is, the rear is harder to work with on our cars. -Z.

Thanks Guys: tifosiman is correct. The car will have a 375hp 350 lt1 and I wanted to go to S4 type brakes to stop the beast. So I'm looking at spindles out ;from a 98 turbo. I'm starting with stopping power first then I'll move to the rear. I'm interested in any thoughts on sway bars front and rear. Is the direction to the MO30 configuration the ticket or would I want some other thickness front and rear because of my configuation
