Question The right exhaust

Hey guys, i'm pretty sure many of you are aware of the Remus exhausts. I've been looking at them for a long time and even downloaded audio clips of how they sound on different cars(so far they sound sweet!). I was wondering if any of you have a Remus installed on your 944 (the real deal, not the remus-like exhausts) and i just wanna know how it sounds. Annoying? Farty? Nice? And even if it adds a couple more horses overall. Just let me know it it's worth it.......thanks fellas.......

The stock exhaust is already large diameter and pretty dang free-flowing. At most you'll at 1 or 2 HP near redline and lose 1 or 2 ft-lb of torque at low RPM.

If the factory exhaust were really restrictive then it might, _might_ be a different situation, but as it is, you're not going to get any measureable difference from an exhaust.

You will get more noise though, which increases the psychological perception of speed. So even though a stopwatch won't notice anything, you'll probably think that your car "feels" faster with the exhaust.

Never heard of Remus, and I dissagree with AAaron about upgrading the exhaust. I think with a good set of headers a good cat-back and a cat sub pipe you will see about 5-10hp. I would not go and change the dia. of the pipe since there is no need and you could loose power by going to big. Also make sure the exhaust you are buying has a good resonator built in. Alot of times adding a performance exhaust to a 4 banger can make it sound farty but with the addition of a resonator it will reduce this problem

Depending on what your price range is, the SpeedForceRacing catback is one of the nicest sounding setups i have heard for the 944. I considered having a custom exhaust done, but frankly im hesitant because im not sure what its going to sound like. I have heard many sound clips and seen enough videos to know the SFR setup sounds great on the 8v cars. Most users report a slight loss of low end torque, but a 'free'er' top end. The catback is about $600 i believe.

I recently saw and heard a Remus system on a 968. I don't think the neighbourhood or rather the police would approve much. I mean, when the variocam starts kicking in and the flowing gets going (ugh...) there's just nowhere to hide from the extreme and brutal noise it makes. I don't know if any of you ever heard a straight-6 TVR engine, well it's like that only a lot heavier, it really makes your stomach turn.

Just a quickie info bit: Remus is much more popular in Europe and never really caught on in the States as of yet. Dunno why. I've heard that its a premium-made product, though.
