Early 944 wheels and offset
I thought I was getting ahold of this issue, looking for "early offset" replacement wheels. Then I saw 951 RacerX's page on stock wheels. It says 15x7 cookie cutters use a spacer in the rear. Fuchs 15x7/15x8 show no spacer in the rear. I have those size Fuchs, but there is a spacer in the rear. Is that OK or did the previous owner replace cookie cutters with Fuchs but leave the spacer on? Do I need 23mm offset wheels or is there more to it than that?
Thanks, Chuck |
I have the factory rear spacer with my fuchs, it just makes the rear ones fill out the wheel wells a little better, I like it alot! Not a problem at all. I think fuchs came from the factory with that rear spacer, at least both of my cars had them.....

Every early 944 I have ever owned had those spacers. I haven't checked my 85/2 yet, but I believe that when they started using the cast alloy trailing arms they resolved this issue which goes back to the 924 M471 days.

85.5 and onward 944's did not have the spacer on the rear, prior years did have it standard.
