Question dead stereo syndrome

sorted the fuel system on my 924 and having some fun driving it. Now the cd has packed up. Previous to the lay-up the cd player and electic arielactivated when the key was inserted into the ignition. Now it comes on very occasionaly for a few seconds at a time and scares the living daylights out of me. Can anyone point me in the right direction before I rip it to bits?

Sounds like a bad connection, probably right at the back of the cd head unit. Pull the head unit and check the wiring for loose/bad connections.

there should be a wire (mine is pink, IIRC) that handles stereo memory, etc.. it runs from back of the head unit to the battery, usually through the firewall. my problem was on the battery terminal side - wasnt making good contact with the battery. could be you're hitting a bump in the road just right where a contact is made long enough to scare the heck outta ya.

its just a loose wire. Either the power wire, the ground wire, or the memory wire. Reconnect them, and make sure that it is grounded properly. If that dosent work, try following the memory and power wires like livewire suggested

I bet a nickle its the radio/sunroof relay. If you are sitting in the drivers seat its a black box 1" X1"X2" above your right knee. Try rapping it gently w/ the but end of a screwdriver
